The state of the umma (Muslim community) of Kazakhstan as one of the main factors of the religious and ethnic identity of modern Kazakhstanis is considered. The ethnic composition of the Muslim ummah and the role of religion in the socio-political and spiritual consolidation of Kazakhstan society are analyzed.
The article discusses numerous studies that are being carried out today in Kazakhstan, related to the solution of interethnic problems, that the belonging of various ethnic groups to the same confession does not lead to the removal of interethnic contradictions between them. However, the obvious insufficiency of existing attempts to penetrate into the interconnection of historical, social, psychological, ideological and political aspects of the formation and development of ethno-confessional consciousness does not allow us to see a complex, contradictory, but, at the same time, naturally developing process behind the external side of the phenomena.
The article analyzes a study conducted by the Institute for Political Decisions (IPD) in 2011 in 14 regional centers of the country, as well as in the "northern" and "southern capitals" (Astana and Almaty) respondents - 2302 people. There is also a table on the results of sociological research "Religious factor in modern Kazakhstan." A new constructive approach to religion is needed to renew and transform the spiritual life of Kazakh society in the era of globalization.
This topic is relevant in that it requires study in the future, since the obvious insufficiency of existing attempts to penetrate into the relationship of historical-social, psychological, ideological and political aspects of the formation and development of ethno-confessional consciousness requires a thorough study
