SOLDIERS LETTERS FROM THE FRONT: THE TRENCH TRUTH ABOUT THE WAR

In the article on the basis of the study of confiscated letters from Soviet soldiers, as well as trophy letters from German soldiers are studied minor problems of the early period of the Great Patriotic War. Comparing the mentality of a soldier in the army, the author analyzes the state and dynamics of the morale, the socio-psychological qualities of the personnel of the army fighting in the extreme conditions of war.
The documentary sources quoted in the article allow to expand the representation on such a small topic as war and society, to show the tendency of the development of public moods, the most common mental anticipation, the most recent expectations and expectations. The documentary sources reflect a wide range of moods as in the fighting armies, as well as among the civilian population.
