Abstract

The article examines the development of Japan's diplomatic mechanisms towards Central Asian countries since the early 1990s. Particular attention is paid to key foreign policy strategies such as the Silk Road Diplomacy, the Central Asia + Japan initiative, and the Belt of Freedom and Prosperity concept. The principles of Japanese policy - non-interference, cultural diplomacy, and economic cooperation - as forms of soft power are analyzed. The challenges associated with the competition between China and Russia in the region, as well as Japan's successful attempts to form a positive image in the Eurasian space are considered. A conclusion is made about the stabilizing role of Japan and the potential for further strengthening its position in Central Asia.
