This article discusses the types of international trade - free trade and the impact of protectionist policies on international relations. The policy pursued by states in relation to their economic situation is still relevant today. However, as a result of protectionist import control and liberalization of foreign trade between states, subsidies are applied to companies. Although the use of protectionist measures has been strengthened in multilateral relations, they are still one of the main tools of foreign trade policy. Although these measures will take on new forms in the future, it can be assumed that they will continue.
