Abstract

The article is devoted to the socio-economic life of Korea during the occupation. The article sets out the task of examining the main chronological events during the occupation of Korea, it also examines the most important events and changes in the life of the Korean population under the influence of Japan, not only economically but also culturally. The goals and actions of the Japanese government on the territory of the Korean Peninsula were also considered. Not much attention has been paid to this topic in Russian literature. Mostly, American Korean and Japanese scientific works on this topic were considered. The study describes the colonial system of Korea and its government represented by the Japanese governor general. It also reflects the cultural and economic upheavals in Korea at that time and all of them is actual in this article.
