INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE IN THE USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN MILITARY ACTIVITIES

Abstract

The article examines the development of artificial intelligence
(AI) and provides a comprehensive analysis of international experience in
its application in the military sphere. It explores the main directions of AI
implementation in weapons and military equipment, as well as in the practices
of the armed forces of leading foreign countries. Particular attention is given
to the role of AI in intelligence and command systems, unmanned platforms,
cybersecurity, logistics support, and combat decision-making processes.
In recent decades, artificial intelligence has become an integral part of
modern warfare, significantly transforming the nature of military operations.
The likely character of future wars and armed conflicts suggests that changes in
the forms and methods of employing armed forces are increasingly determined
by scientific and technological progress. Along with geopolitical factors, the
development of next-generation weapon systems, the improvement of automated
command and control systems, and rapid data processing technologies are
becoming decisive elements.
The experience of technologically advanced countries demonstrates that
AI enables the effective analysis of large volumes of information, early threat
detection, and faster, more accurate operational decision-making. In addition,
AI technologies contribute to reducing risks to military personnel, minimizing
dependence on the human factor, and improving overall operational efficiency.
The article also analyzes mechanisms for integrating AI into military
command systems, the adaptation of armed forces to digital transformation, and
issues related to personnel training. Furthermore, it addresses the prospects of
autonomous systems, data protection, cybersecurity challenges, and compliance
with international legal and ethical standards.
The study concludes that the effective and responsible implementation
of AI technologies is a key factor in strengthening national security, enhancing
military capabilities, and ensuring timely responses to emerging threats.
